SUMMARY

"Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring" by Kenard Pak is a beautifully written book describing the changes that take place as winter turns to spring. The story follows a young boy walking outside with his dog. The boy is taking in the setting around him: the snow falling, the wind blowing branches in the trees, and the frozen water in the pond and brook. Slowly, he starts noticing signs of winter ending and spring beginning such as the snow is starting to melt and it is getting lighter out earlier. He realizes that new leaves are starting to grow on the trees, the animals are coming back out, the sun is much brighter and it is getting warmer outside. Kenard Pak’s book "Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring" is the perfect way to discuss the change of seasons with students!
