"The Good, the Bad, and the Spooky" by Jory John is a hilarious children's book that follows the adventure of the bad seed who is in a bad mood. The bad seed used to have so much fun on Halloween with his matching costume with his friends but as they got older they became more independent and drifted apart, leaving the bad seed alone on Halloween with no cool costume to show off. The bad seed couldn't compete with all the creative costumes and could not stand it which is why he is in a bad mood. At the end of the book the bad seed realizes that Halloween does not need to be a competetion, and another seed shares that it's about celebrating the season, happiness and togetherness! Through its witty text and playful illustrations, the book humorously explores themes of kindness, misconceptions, and the power of friendship. "The Good, the Bad, and the Spooky" is a delightful read that teaches young readers not to judge a book by its cover and that sometimes things are not as important as they may seem.
