SUMMARY

"Rescuing Mrs. Birdley" by Aaron Reynolds, is a story that follows a young protagonist named Miranda who watches nature adventure shows and is fascinated by the animal rescue missions in the show. One day Miranda is at the grocery store and sees her teacher, Mrs. Birdley, and is convinced that she is lost and needs rescuing. Miranda decides to follow and help bring her teacher back to her natural habitat, her classroom. As she stealthily trails Mrs. Birdley, Miranda imagines various scenarios and comes up with many different ways to trap her teacher. Miranda eventually ends up capturing her teacher and locking her up in her classroom but later sees her principle outside of school... which means she needs to start a new rescue mission. The book "Rescuing Mrs. Birdley" highlights the imaginative nature of childhood, understanding TV verses reality, and teaching students that teacher's have lives outside of the classroom!
